What is your ‘Why’?
I can tell you that my “why” has changed over the past 7 years that I’ve CrossFitted.
My “Why” started out as an hour for myself. I was a group exercise instructor and personal trainer, and I was looking for a place where no one knew me. Where I could get a great work out. A place where I wouldn’t be distracted by my friends and chat instead of pushing myself. Honestly, I really wanted to try something new. I was bored with my OWN classes! I wanted to not have to “think” about what I was going to do in the gym. So my first “why” was: I wanted my butt kicked the way I kicked other peoples butts. I entered my first CrossFit gym and was hooked!
“Why” number 2: Well of course I was going to the GAMES BABY! This was a fleeting “Why”, but is a common desire had by many CrossFitters alike. Personally, I would have had a better chance to get struck by lightning while buying the winning 5 million dollar lottery ticket! Cool “why” but I had to reassess 😀
“Why” number 3: Aesthetics. I just wanted to look good. Buff shoulders. Svelte legs. A six pack. The whole package. Add in….Ta-Da…. Nutrition!
“Why” number 4: Strength. Let me tell you, I am way stronger than I’ve ever been doing anything I’ve ever done. From Bodybuilding, to bootcamps, to cardio queen classes (kickboxing, spinning…) Yoga…Nothing made me as strong as CrossFit has, hands down.
My current “Why”: I believe this “Why”, combined with the other 4.. but just a little modified. (… minus number 2!) equals… The number 5 “Why”: To be fit and healthy until I am 105. I never want to rely on anyone to mulch my flower beds. I want to be able to carry ALL of my grocery bags into the house at one time. I want to be able to pick up the end of the couch and sweep under it. I want to be strong and fit on the back end of my life, as I was on the front end of my life, only stronger! My “Why” will be easily attained by being consistent in CrossFit and nutrition. Just like they say..A body in motion says in motion.
What is your “Why”?
Go ahead, write it down. See how or if it changes. Has it changed already?
